Building at the Mount is rarely straightforward, and that's usually the interesting part. Sections are often compact, neighbours are close, and many homes are older beachside houses ready for a rethink. The setting — surf, sun and salt air — is why people want to be here in the first place. We take on renovations, extensions and new builds at the Mount, and plan around those constraints from day one.
On a small section, a few hundred millimetres changes how a home works. Boundary setbacks, height limits and the shape of the site all shape what's possible, so we work through the planning rules early, before design time is spent on something council won't consent. Access, material storage and a tidy site matter too, with neighbours only metres away.
A lot of Mount homes are older, and the question is often whether to renovate, extend or start again. We give you an honest read of what the existing house can carry, what it would cost to bring it up to scratch, and where a rebuild makes better sense. Sometimes keeping the character is the right call. Sometimes it isn't.
Salt air and wind are hard on poorly specified materials, so cladding, flashings and fixings are chosen for the exposure. Parts of the Mount can also be subject to coastal or flood hazard information, which can affect floor levels and what you're allowed to build. We check that at the start so it shapes the design rather than interrupting it. See also our extensions and new builds work.
We're NZCB certified and Licensed Building Practitioners. You deal with us directly, we coordinate every trade, and pricing is fixed and itemised before we start.
We also build across Tauranga, Papamoa, Bethlehem and Pyes Pa.
My outdoor area has been completely transformed, and I'm thrilled with the result. Communication was excellent throughout, and all of the tradies were friendly, professional, and did a fantastic job. Andy had everything covered, including things I hadn't even considered. Super happy with the outcome.
